Saturday

This is what happened on Saturday.

I was meant to be climbing, erm that kind of happened, but not enough to justify the hour drive in a minibus. In the end we called time at 2.30pm, 4 hours after we got there and 2 hours after the first snow shower. Sunday of course was bright blue skies and blazing sunshine. Combined with my broken car, mice in the house general nastiness at school, and my flat for next year falling through I'm ready to say goodbye to March. Maybe April will be better, after all 2 weeks of it are holiday time, everything seems better when you're on holiday!

Time for Tea Swap

After what has been a pretty miserable week I had a lovely surprise on Friday. A month ago I signed up for a swap called "Time for Tea", my parcel is still sat on my desk as I couldn't make it to a post office today, but I had this lovely lot arrive.

Spring Cleaning

My mind that is. Niobe has a post discussing how things are different now compared to last spring.
A year ago I was worrying about job hunting, now, I'm still worrying about job hunting though I know I'm a good teacher, and I'm sure I'll have a job soon, but will it be the right job?
I was also single, at the time that was probably a good thing, as things had not ended well with the previous relationship, now well I'm less happy about the still being single thing. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my own company, but sometimes it would be nice to have someone to defrost my cold feet on after sitting for an hour waiting for the AA man to arrive to tow you home. (In case you missed the tweet the car has died.... again).
Mentally however I feel in a happier place, after all, when I have things like this in my life, and the satisfaction of knowing I made it how can I be unhappy!

Some lace

Well more than some. This is 1000m of fingering weight, knitted up to make a shawl that is taller than I am.
I'm wearing it right now and I love it!

Stash!

Sorry for being quiet, I've been a little busy!
This week has seen parents evening, committee meetings, and then on Friday I went off to go to SkipNorth for those of you not in the know Skip North is a weekend based in Yorkshire featuring alot of yarn shopping.
Acquisitions from Skip North

That was my haul, not bad for how much money I spent. I have enough wool to knit 5 jumpers plus a few other bits and pieces.

Today was meant to be a trip to Winghams to buy fibre and fibre related items but then my car decided to die half a mile away from Winghams. To start off with it looked suspiciously like the problem I had a few months ago, but then the AA man wiggled some wires and it started again. He then made sure I drove home safely, and it didn't die once. So the good news is that it looks like something just became loose, the bad news is I didn't get to go fibre shopping. However, I live half an hour away, so can always pop in one weekend to treat myself!

would you

If you saw a female sat on the side of the path with what might have been blood oozing over her lower leg would you walk past without asking if she was ok? I'd hope all of you would say no, but that's exactly what happened to me today. I was being a pretend casualty for a local mountain rescue team and was waiting to be "found", and not one person asked me if I was ok, admittedly I probably didn't look in distress at that point but still!

I'm back at my parents now defrosting, and being bought cups of tea.I had to have Friday off work as I came down with a bit of a killer cold, the main symptom of which was the complete loss of my voice, so teaching was a bit of a no go. I still don't have much of a voice, we'll have to see how I go for tomorrow, at the moment I wouldn't even last one lesson before I loose my voice completely again.

Jobless

I got told today that my current school can't make a job for me next year. It's not really surprising, I was doing a years maternity cover and school budgets haven't exactly got larger. I will get another job without too many problems, without blowing my own trumpet I am good at this, and have been promised a glowing reference. It's the hassle, I was looking forward to enjoying September knowing I already knew how stuff works, without dealing with new kids and new schemes of works at the same time.

Oh well, these things happen for a reason right?
