A crazy weekend

That followed a crazy week. Basically I didn't stop being n the go since Thursday. At one point there was 24 hours with no sleep and at another point I was very happily drunk and dancing like a lunatic. Actually, thinking about it, those 2 things did overlap, amazing how lack of sleep turns me in to a cheap drunk!

I spent Friday night and Saturday looking after crazy people like this, find out more about what I was really up to here

Then Saturday night doing this

Then Sunday Morning sleeping, followed by driving a minibus again to go and eat some food, then sunday night drinking....
Knitting progress is practically nil, liver damage is potentially high.

Winter

Today is cold and rainy. It feels like a proper winter day, none of this snowy rubbish of which we seem to have had so much. Instead a nice cold heavy drizzle, lovely!
This week is crazy busy, mostly thanks to Rainbows, parents evening and it's that time of year again, our annual 42 mile marathon run overnight around the Peak District. Of course I am not daft enough to run in it, but I am daft enough to volunteer to spend Friday night driving a minibus about, helping keep them all safe and fed.
Now the only question, which sock yarn do I wind up tomorrow to do some plain and simple socks as patterned knitting isn't going to happen. My Ravelry stash page is here, I'm currently thinking this,
BeautiFuL
which deserves the chance to shine all by itself, but I'm open to suggestions. Non-Rav users then you can have a look at my stash set on Flickr over in the side bar.

and I was doing so well

I really am a horribly sporradic blogger, sometimes life just catches up with me. This week has been like that. Since I last posted on Monday I've had my rainbow meeting, a knitting night, a load of shopping to do to send the climbing club on a trip to Scotland, another knitting night, a meal out with all my district guiders and an international selection weekend. As well as going to work it's been rather busy, next week looks like being no better!
So just to satisfy those who like to keep an eye on my knitting here's some latest projects.
Oven Mitt and pot holder
My first felted project, an oven mitt and pot holder knitted out of some left over Lambs Pride Worsted held double, these are being saved away as a present.
And a new sock
Cornish Scallop socks
Knitted out of the most wonderful yarn that Natalie at The Yarn Yard claims she had me partly in mind when she was dying!

Speaking of knitting I need to get on with my large lace wrap.

Gimme 5

A meme thought up by the lovely Natalie of The Yarn Yard.

1. What can you hear, right now?

The TV (Paul O'Grady is back!), and traffic on the road outside.

2. What will you have for dinner tonight?

Cauliflower Cheese pasta with bacon. I had some for tea on saturday and this is the leftovers that are sat in the fridge!

3. Crossword, Sudoku or Boggle?

If I actually have a newspaper, rare unless I'm on holiday, then I'll try the crossword, never usually very good at it!

4. Favourite biscuit?

Malted Milk, unless jaffa cakes count as a biscuit?

5. Which magazines do you read?

Absolutely none unless you count the online knitting ones like Knitty. I also refuse to count the magazine my teaching union sends me, or Guiding magazine!

Feel free to have a go yourself and leave me a comment so I can come and take a look.

Happy Thinking Day

Today Girl Guides, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts all over the world will be thinking of each other. Just imagine that, 38million people from 216 countries, all thinking about someone other than themselves. In the richer nations like the UK we collect Thinking Day pennies to help fund Guiding and Scouting in nations that are less well off. Guides and Scouts in many African countries act as health ambassadors trying to educate local people about AIDS prevention. Even in countries like the UK Guiding and Scouting encourage young people to think beyond themselves and to recognize that however hard life might seem for them, someone, somewhere in the world has a far worse lot.
So if you were ever a Brownie, Guide, Cub, or Scout or even more magically a leader, Happy Thinking Day, and enjoy this PR video I found on YouTube, 30 years old, but explains beautifully why I give up my time to be a Guider.

Eyes

Eyes are such expressive things, they are how we know if someone os being genuine. The eyes betray your true emotions no matter what the rest of your face is doing. The also come in such a fascinating range of colours. Niobe has a post up currently asking us to post a photo of our eyes, so here are mine. Feel free to take a photo of your own eyes (it's harder than you think if like me you use a built in web cam, hence the crookedness!) and leave a comment so I can come and take a look in to your eyes.

Tree Surgeons?

Maybe I should consider an alternative career?
This is the tree that Mum and I chopped down at the building site where my aunty is building a house. Eventually it will be her front garden. To give you an idea the branches are about 6 inches in diameter. She's going to have to get the tree surgeons in to finish the job off and deal with some larger trees but at least we've made a start!
